Accessible Immersive Interactive Experience

Project Brief

How can immersive technologies be used to bring exhibits and landmarks to life?

Interactivity in GLAMs (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) can take many forms, from augmented reality and visual projections to online platforms for remote access to archives. These steps are taken for many reasons such as increasing tourism, generating economic revenue, and reaching potential audiences with new modes of engaging with sites and collections. As applications continue to evolve, so too does the range of opportunities and the growing potential that immersive technologies can offer to publics in engaging with historical events, artefacts, and records.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this module the student should be able to:

  1. Identify the objectives of a particular GLAM to inform the nature of your proposal.
  2. Consider the benefit(s) that your proposal would provide to a particular GLAM.
  3. Identify and design an experience appropriate for an audience who do not typically engage with GLAMs.
